I really enjoyed this memoir by Athena Dean-Holtz, I think partly because I identified with her life. Our experiences were similar. I liked how she just didn't tell her story, but shared how God intervened and faithfully strengthened her faith throughout her life. It was beautiful and well told about her life growing up with a critical mother and involvement in three cults and how they held her back in her faith and affected relationships. Her brave honesty to reveal the truths about herself and life inspired me. She told the good and the bad. Not everyone has a memoir worthy story, but Athena does! If you've experienced spiritual abuse by cults and/or false teachers, this book will help you overcome the lies and mental abuse.
